100 Years Later Of The Tulsa Black Wall Street Massacre

Black Twitter conversation about the Tulsa black Wall Street massacre made me realize that a lot of black people within the community just learning about that dark history. May 31st, 1921 through June 1st will forever change the terror in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

White residents had burned down businesses and murdered 300 black residents; all because it’s been rumored a young black man by the name of Dick Rowland was riding on a elevator with a white woman name Sarah Page. Too many incidents of young black boys and men have been falsely accused by white women that had ended their lives. Who remember the story of the town of Rosewood in the state of Florida? Very similar to the Tulsa massacre but in that incident a white woman accused a black man of sexual assault; found out that wasn’t true. And let’s not forget Emmitt Till story how he was only 15 years old when he was murdered because a white woman falsely accused him of whistling at her; til this day it angers me about that particular incident because the years later the woman had to confess Emmitt nevered whistle at her at all.

100 years later; the Tulsa massacre is being discussed all over social media and sad to say most people are just now awakened by this tragedy. It’s important to do your own research and learn more about our black history; it’s never too late.

May the family of those who perished and survivors get there justice.
